I use an app called AppKarma, a rewards app where you can earn points by completing surveys, watching videos, or, most commonly, downloading and trying new apps. You can also get a few points for playing the apps for a short time, and sometimes a survey about the app you downloaded will appear for extra points. Referrals give both people 300 points, and you also earn 30% of whatever your referral earns. The app offers gift cards for Amazon ($1), PayPal ($3), iTunes ($5), Google Play ($10), Starbucks ($5), Xbox Live ($5), PlayStation Store ($10), and Steam ($20). The minimum payout depends on the card. The conversion rate is about 1,750 points per dollar, with some apps paying up to 500 points, though most fall in the 50–100 point range. There’s also an achievement system that gives extra points for milestones like redeeming for the first time, checking in, or watching a certain number of surveys. Some badges even increase the points you earn from offers after completing enough Karma Plays.

I tried the appKarma Rewards & Gift Cards offer, which required downloading the app from the appKarma site and reaching 750 points. I went through Swagbucks, completed the requirements, and even entered the referral code ak423 because it appeared as an offer within the app. After finishing, I didn’t receive credit. I submitted a ticket, and they claimed I wasn’t credited because I had been referred by someone other than Swagbucks/Adgate. I’m still waiting on a final response, which they said could take up to 30 days. The whole situation feels a bit shady on the advertiser’s side.
