It’s surprising that Appen chose to begin its transition to CrowdGen in September instead of using the quieter summer months to prepare. The move feels rushed, poorly planned, and technically untested. As of October 15, much of September’s work still hasn’t been processed or paid. The qualification process for new projects is broken, yet workers continue to receive emails urging them to proceed. Support is virtually nonexistent—no matter how many tickets are raised, no one responds. This transition highlights how not to manage a platform migration. Key systems like invoicing scripts and payment processing were clearly not tested properly. The overall lack of technical readiness makes the platform feel as if it’s being managed by inexperienced staff. Such a disorganized rollout could have serious long-term effects on CrowdGen and its community.

I qualified for several projects months ago but never received instructions on how to start any of them. After waiting two months, I finally began my first project and was told I’d be paid per unit. I completed one unit but received no payment. The dashboard doesn’t show my completed work, and now it says there’s no more work available. The system is confusing, requiring users to go through multiple linked sites just to access a project. Support doesn’t respond, even after weeks of waiting. It feels like Appen and Crowdgen have no organization or concern for workers. Based on my experience and the many similar reviews I’ve seen, this site is unreliable and not worth the time.
