I’ve used this app for a while, but most jobs don’t pay very well. The scavenger hunt tasks are nearly impossible since I can rarely find the items they ask for. Over three years, I earned about $450 in total, but about half of that was just reimbursements for items I had to buy, so the actual income was closer to $225. Some jobs were better, like getting a $30 spiral ham for free or earning $28 to buy and review granola bars, but most paid only around $5. The buy-and-try tasks are the best since they reimburse you and sometimes give a little extra. Still, it works only if I’m already planning to shop at the store.

Field Agent is my favorite shopping and grocery task app, but I’m curious about their Eye Spy/Scavenger Hunt feature. Most people seem to ignore it, and I’ve done the same. All of mine are for Costco, and while I like Costco, I rarely go. I’ve considered making a trip just to see if I’d have any luck with these tasks. From my past experience with Premise, which also had lots of Eye Spy tasks, the chances of finding them were extremely low. Out of 300–400 new tasks each week, I might find 2–4 in a store once a month, even when I actively checked. If Field Agent’s Eye Spies work the same way, they don’t seem worth the effort unless I’m already at the store for another reason. I also want to share a warning from my time on Premise. I used it actively for almost two years, then one day my account was suddenly terminated because I accidentally logged in with my VPN on. It was a one-time mistake, not a pattern of misuse, but they still closed my account. After submitting hundreds of approved tasks that met all requirements, I felt completely discarded. That experience left me frustrated. In contrast, Field Agent feels supportive and values my input. Their agent relations and support are far better than competitors like Clickworker, Observa, or Premise. Because of this, I put in more effort on their platform. I’ll even do lower-paying tasks for Field Agent that I would normally skip on other apps, as long as they don’t take me too far out of my way.
