Somebody I know started playing an app game called Bingo Cash to earn extra money. They began with $10 and said it grew to $25, which already sounds too good to be true. I’ve learned that there’s no such thing as easy money, so I told them I was skeptical. They claimed they could cash out anytime, but I’m not convinced. It feels more like gambling, where the app hooks players with small early wins before pulling them in deeper.

I’ve been playing Bingo Cash for about a week. At first, it went smoothly, and without spending any money I built up around $20 in winnings fairly quickly. Over the last few days, though, the game has started taking it back. Sometimes I sit through an entire 1:30 game and only get about 13 numbers marked with very few points. Other times I manage to get a few bingos, only to find I’m matched against players at level 200 or higher. According to Bingo Cash, matches are supposed to be based on skill level, but I’m level 27 and was placed against someone at level 215. Obviously, I don’t stand much of a chance. I’ve sent three messages through the in-game contact form and haven’t received a reply. Having played bingo for 68 years, I know it’s unrealistic to sit through 14 numbers being called without hitting a single one, but that has happened more than once in this app.
