A large, legal skill-gaming network that routes withdrawals back to your funding method and pays excess US winnings by check. Great game variety across partner titles, but cash access depends on your region and game type. Expect slower checks unless you’re in the ACH rollout.
Earning Potential
Skill-based cash tournaments. Earnings depend entirely on win rate; not reliable as an hourly “task.”

Many of the games on the Skillz platform are enjoyable, but spending money on them has been a mistake. I put in about $3,000 across three games, and despite being a well above average player who often ranked on top-tier leaderboards in both pro and practice leagues, I have nothing to show for it. I believe Skillz cheats players through shady "fair play matching" tactics and by using bots that you are set up to lose against, especially in higher-stakes matches. Over time, I suspected this but kept putting in money, which I now regret. As of summer 2021, there is a class action lawsuit against Skillz where investors allege the company defrauded shareholders. Given my own experience, I have no doubt this could be true.

Nothing in “skill based matchmaking” guarantees you’ll face someone with equal skill. Skillz claims matches are based on your account level, not your in-game level, but even that isn’t true. When I win too often and there’s no one left to beat, the app starts crashing for no reason. With 50,000 people playing bingo, I find it hard to believe I should wait for a match. It feels like they delay games until they find someone with a better score, then call that my opponent. The result is always the same: I lose. On top of that, Skillz took $10 from my PayPal without permission. I sent proof, but they ignored me. They didn’t refund me or even credit my Skillz account. Now they won’t respond at all.
